Over the last year, UCTC volunteers have devoted thousands of hours to researching and understanding the zoning of industrial wind turbines. Statistics of existing projects show absentee landowners are more likely to sign up than those who live within the footprint. This highlights the importance of satisfactory siting and zoning at the local level.
Below are some shortcomings of Public Act 102-1123 you should be aware of (this list is not exhaustive):

What do we have to lose?
If we do not stand up for our land and valuable resources, who will? Is renewable energy being well executed and thought out, or are we stumbling down the same path? Is the prime farmland being protected as though it is about to become extinct?
Is 750 feet too close?
Is 750 too close to our homes? Read articles about turbines catching fire, loosing blades and collapsing. A larger setback is needed.

The Biden administration and the wind sector are pushing for the 14th extension of the Production Tax Credit (PTC).
“The PTC, which expired at the beginning of this year, is the single most-expensive energy-related provision in the federal tax code. Between 2020 and 2029, the PTC will cost the federal treasury some $34 billion.”

A subsidiary of one of the largest U.S. providers of renewable energy pleaded guilty to criminal charges and was ordered to pay over $8 million in fines and restitution after at least 150 eagles were killed at its wind farms in eight states, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
